Well, it would appear that summer has finally woken up and made an appearance (after a substantial lie in this year), we saw soaring temperatures at Glastonbury festival and no doubt there were a few pink bodies at work the week after!
Thankfully, they aren’t the only things to turn a reddish shade in the sun as our wonderful English peaches are ripe and ready at this time of year (yes you read that correctly, we grow peaches in England), something which our chef Charlie has been ready and waiting to combine with a classic summer recipe.
Burratta cheese, what is it? Put in layman’s terms Burratta is a wonderful soft italian cheese made with a mozzarella pouch and then filled with a delicious soft curd and cream which adds up to a milky and beautiful buttery flavour. Put together with our newly ripened English peaches, carefully cured bresaola and toasted hazelnuts it forms the basis for a classic summer dish which can now be found on our cafe menu for the next few weeks.
So there you have it, English peaches in all their glory! Pop down and try them in the next few weeks whilst they’re still around, our lunchtime menu is served from 12pm - 3pm every day in Cafe Walcot.
